News | Possible Big Change for Student Rules Ahead

Change in affordable housing student rules ahead! There is interesting compliance news to share from the new HUD appropriation bill released by the House today. It eliminates the HUD Section 8-specific student financial assistance rule. This language in past appropriations was the reason we currently have two student financial assistance rules (one for Section 8 recipients and the HOTMA-based one for everyone else). If this bill is finalized as presented, we will have one method to count student financial assistance - the new method introduced in HOTMA.
